The family of a Pakistani truck driver in the Al Ghubeiba area of Sharjah endured a terrifying ordeal after torrential rains on Saturday (March 9) left their home in ruins.
Unable to find shelter, his eight children, his wife and two goats were forced to spend the night outdoors. “We’re picking up the pieces,” the wife lamented, describing how the rain came through the roof, destroying everything inside, including her beds and supplies. “Even the food we bought before Ramadan is soaked in water. My husband was at work and we were caught off guard.”

Brothers Omar, 9, and Mohammad, 7, described how their mattresses are soaked and their clothes are useless. “We had to calm our two goats. They were scared,” Omar added.
None of the children go to school.
Videos and images shared by an Emirati woman who visited the house last night show the extent of the damage, showing overflowing buckets and bathtubs placed under leaking roofs, with destroyed belongings strewn amid the mud.

“It was a heartbreaking sight,” the Emirati said. “Their need is urgent and their resilience is inspiring. Let us come together and extend a helping hand to this family as they prepare for Ramadan. They are struggling to meet their basic needs, unable to send their children to school, let alone rebuild their broken home.”
