A family of charming Asian short-clawed otters have become the new residents of the Abu Dhabi National Aquarium, which is home to 46,000 creatures spread across its 10 areas.
The world’s smallest otter species will captivate visitors with its playful nature and social tendencies. Recognized for their adorable appearance and playful behavior, they are ready to steal hearts and provide a rare insight into your world. Always found in groups, these otters thrive on camaraderie and are known for their endearing interactions.
“We are delighted to introduce our visitors to Asian short-clawed otters. These otters not only captivate the public with their uniqueness, but also serve as ambassadors for rainforest conservation,” said Paul Hamilton, general manager of the National Aquarium.
These otters are making their long-awaited debut in Abu Dhabi with a new exhibit called Otters Creek. There will be daily presentations at 2 pm allowing guests to delve deeper into the lives of these extraordinary otters. Additionally, an immersive otter encounter experience is currently being developed, offering visitors a unique opportunity to interact and get up close and personal with otters.
“We hope their presence inspires guests to appreciate the importance of safeguarding our planet and its incredible biodiversity,” Hamilton added.
The National Aquarium is part of Al Qana, a unique coastal destination that redefines dining and social entertainment in Abu Dhabi.
