Dubai Civil Defense partners with NFPA to promote fire safety initiatives

HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Committee for Crisis and Disaster Management, attended the signing of a collaboration agreement between Dubai Civil Defense and the US-based National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), the world’s largest fire safety organisation.
The signing ceremony, which took place during His Highness’ visit to the Directorate General of Dubai Civil Defence, was also attended by Major General Rashid Thani Al Matrooshi, Director General of Dubai Civil Defence; Jim Pauley, president and CEO of NFPA; and several high-ranking officials and department heads.
During the visit, His Highness learned about the latest initiatives and projects undertaken by the Dubai Civil Defense. His Highness praised the department for its experience and ability to leverage advanced technologies, its global competitiveness and world-class services.
In the presence of His Highness, it was announced that Major Issa Ahmed Al-Mutawa has been appointed chairman of the Advisory Committee and judge of the Arbitration Committee of the International Safety and Security Exhibition. The appointment of information security specialist Aliya Omar bin Touq as vice president of the Advisory Committee was also announced. The appointments recognize the talent and competence of the Emirati workforce and their notable contributions to the success of global efforts across sectors.
By signing the collaboration pact, Al Matrooshi reaffirmed Dubai Civil Defense’s commitment to the highest international standards of public safety, crisis prevention and firefighting protocols and the adoption of cutting-edge systems. He added that Dubai is committed to maintaining its status as the best place to live, work and visit by fostering strong partnerships with prominent international organisations.

He took note of the proactive analysis carried out by Dubai Civil Defense in accordance with international standards, which underlines the organization’s commitment to safeguarding people’s lives and property. It serves as an exemplary model for leveraging technology to mitigate potential risks and maintain the highest safety standards, he added.
Pauley highlighted that the collaboration agreement signed with Dubai Civil Defense represents a significant step in expanding collaboration between the two parties. The agreement, he added, lays the foundation for the continued exchange of successful experiences, knowledge and expertise, thereby strengthening regional and global partnerships. Furthermore, it underlines the shared commitment to the development of best practices in the field of fire safety.
Engineer Dana Kamal, NFPA International Development Director for the Middle East and North Africa region, reiterated the importance of the agreement. He noted that the agreement marks progress in promoting knowledge sharing and enhancing mutual expertise through a series of educational and training programs under the auspices of the NFPA. He also praised Dubai Civil Defense for providing top-notch services and adhering to exemplary standards.
