On Thursday the United Arab Emirates woke up to thick fog covering several roads, mainly in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Poor visibility led meteorological authorities to issue red and yellow alerts in some areas.
The National Meteorological Center issued a fog alert at 4 a.m. and said conditions were expected to last until 9 a.m. Among the affected areas are Al Minhad in Dubai, Al Maktoum International Airport and Al Lisali, and Al Ajban, Sweihan and Seih Shuaib in Abu Dhabi.
Speed limits have been reduced on certain roads in Abu Dhabi to ensure safety. Police in the emirate urged drivers to pay attention to the changes displayed on information boards.

On Trucks Road (Sieh Shuaib – Al Faqa) and Mohammed Bin Rashid Road (Kizad – Seih Alsedirah) in Abu Dhabi, motorists must maintain speed at 80 km/h in fog, police said.
For the rest of the day, the UAE can generally expect a fair to partly cloudy day, although rain clouds could form in the east in the afternoon, the NCM said in its forecast.
The wind will be light and humidity is expected to increase overnight, he added. Temperatures are higher today, reaching 40 degrees Celsius in some areas of Abu Dhabi and 35 degrees in Dubai.
