Hadja Lahbib, Belgian Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Affairs, Foreign Trade and Federal Cultural Institutions, visited the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque (SZGM) here on Saturday.
The Belgian minister and her accompanying delegation began their tour with a visit to the final resting place of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and recalled the qualities and wise approach of the Founding Father that enriched the culture of tolerance and peaceful coexistence between the different nations of the world. They were accompanied by Youssef Al Obaidli, director general of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre.

The Belgian minister visited the mosque and saw its exterior rooms and corridors.
During the tour, they were briefed about the mosque’s noble message that highlights the notions of coexistence, tolerance and openness to other cultures, inspired by the rich legacy of the nation’s late founder, and about the mosque’s leading role in the time to highlight the true essence of Islamic culture and promote intercultural communication throughout the world.
At the end of the visit, the guest received two distinctive publications from the Center. The first, titled “Spaces of Light”, shows the winning photographs of the “Spaces of Light” photography award, organized annually by the Center to celebrate the scenic aesthetics and visual culture of the mosque, and another copy of a book titled ” Houses of God” about places of worship in Islamic history.
