Abu Dhabi Police on Friday appealed to drivers not to stop in the middle of the road without justification and to move their vehicles when minor traffic accidents occur.
The Directorate of Traffic and Patrols of the Abu Dhabi Police reminded motorists that in the event of breakdowns or if a tire bursts, it urged them to move their vehicles off the road to the nearest safe place and not to obstruct traffic and leave space for other motorists to pass.
The fine for the violation is 1,000 dirhams and six traffic black points.
It also advised drivers to request assistance from the Abu Dhabi Police Command and Control Centre.
Brigadier Saif Al Zaabi, deputy director of the Directorate of Traffic and Patrols, said that road safety is among the strategic priorities of the Abu Dhabi Police and that removing vehicles from the road in cases of minor traffic accidents does not affect the determination who caused the accident. He also explained that the planning process is done through precise systems that determine who caused the accident or incident.

He added that leaving vehicles that cause minor traffic accidents, broken down vehicles or changing tires in the lanes of the road exposes their drivers to accidents and the risk of suffering traffic accidents.
He highlighted that the Abu Dhabi Police Traffic and Patrol Directorate continues to intensify its efforts within the strategic objectives by improving traffic awareness and culture through awareness bulletins and field workshops, in addition to the awareness campaigns published by the Abu Dhabi Security Media Department.
