Remember the flooded roads and heavy traffic in Sharjah on Friday morning? By nightfall they were gone and residents were even able to enjoy the cool winter breeze outdoors.
It was all thanks to the quick response and round-the-clock operations of the Sharjah City Municipality team.
On Friday morning, residents had to make last-minute changes to their routines and skip appointments or take out their umbrellas and roll up their pants sleeves to brave the heavy rain and flooding.
Those who came out had to slosh through wet roads while traffic came to a standstill.
However, amid all this, Sharjah authorities have stepped up security and patrols and sent emergency response teams to deal with the impact of the rain.

They were able to enjoy the cool winter breeze. Some were seen cycling while others took their chairs to the park to relax and spend time with family and friends.

Khalid bin Falah Al Swedi, director of the handling service at Sharjah City Municipality, said his teams had been working continuously since dawn when reports and calls began coming in as thunderstorms and rain hit the emirate.
