The Sharjah City Municipality has published a set of guidelines for the use of cosmetic products in hair salons and beauty centres.
The authority urges salons to comply with these guidelines for the health and safety of everyone.
Centers have been asked to refrain from:
1. Use cosmetic products without exhaustive labels
2. Create blends, mix creams and oils or use homemade blends
3. Use creams containing fruit acids such as AHA and BHA
4. Using hair straightening products, such as keratin, that contain more than 0.2 percent formaldehyde.
5. Use creams with hydroquinone
6. Use creams that contain corticosteroids or derivatives
7. Using creams that claim to whiten or “thin” the skin
8. Use cosmetic products for medical or therapeutic purposes.
9. Using prohibited cosmetics
Last week, women’s beauty centers, children’s salons and men’s salons in Abu Dhabi were inspected by officials and checked for any violations committed by owners and employees. Inspection teams verified the expiration dates of materials used in services offered to the public and ensured the provision of high-quality and effective tool sterilization equipment.
