If you’re lucky and kind, Santa might just take you through Dubai and Abu Dhabi this festive season. Although it won’t come with reindeer sleighs, it’s sure to make you feel comfortable and cheerful – with extra gifts of candy and chocolates – along the way.

A Dubai-based startup offers chauffeur services with drivers dressed in cheerful red suits to drive your car. Zofeur’s marketing ploy began on Wednesday and will run until Christmas Day, December 25, for night rides starting at 6 p.m.

Dressing up as Santa Claus is a tradition associated with Christmas and has its roots in the cultural and historical aspects of the holiday.

“We love spreading holiday cheer and adding a touch of magic to our customers’ trips,” Ronald said cheerfully, adding, “Our passengers love the concept and feel more connected to our service than ever because of their relationship with the celebrations”. .

Of course, a trip with Santa isn’t complete without posting it on social media. Another Santa driver, Jjemba Ronald, 27, who is also from Uganda, said: “Customers love this concept because it comes as a surprise. “They love taking selfies with us and posting them on their social media.”

“To make it sweeter, we also give them sweets and treats as snacks while we drive for them,” he added, noting, “Just as Santa brings gifts and goodwill, we, Santa’s drivers, also symbolize the spirit of giving. “It is our way of expressing gratitude and giving back to our valued customers and passengers during this special time of year.”

Zofeur is an on-demand, pay-per-minute chauffeur services platform that can be downloaded on iOS and Play Store. There is no minimum usage or commitment, but pre-booking drivers is recommended to avoid delays over the festive period, as only five per cent of all Zofeur drivers offer Santa services.

The chauffeur service is not only limited to Dubai, as Santa Claus drivers can also make one-way trips between Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
