The largest edition of the Unmanned Systems (Umex) and Simulation and Training (SimTex) exhibitions offers glimpses of the UAE’s majestic march towards electric mobility for military operations.

Abu Dhabi-based tech startup Kintsugi steals the show on the opening day of the exhibitions with a locally made AI-powered multi-purpose hybrid vehicle called Magnus from its subsidiary Eneron.

The imposing six-seater 4X4 ‘Made in UAE’ features a stack of autonomous vehicles, six drones, AI-powered robotics, a payload capacity of 2,000 kg, an 805 HP electric motor, which reaches a maximum speed of 130 kmph, a driving range of 200 km (electric) to 800 km (hybrid), a ground clearance of 350 mm and a massive gross weight of 6,000 kg.

“Kintsugi is a start-up but leading AI company from the UAE government, which is finding innovative solutions for the public and private sectors. Magnus is a hybrid vehicle. that is, electric and gasoline. This concept vehicle has been manufactured by our subsidiary Eneron,” said Waleed Al Blooshi, corporate communications manager at Kintsugi Holdings. Khaleej Times.

As the fully armored doors open 90 degrees like a helicopter, there are six seats made from exoskeletons, with folding rear seats ensuring huge space for equipment, robots, laptops, radios and more.

In front of the seats there are intelligent consoles to facilitate command, control and management of the vehicle. You can quickly configure drones for launch and have a deployable ramp for easy access to equipment on and off the Magnus. Its superior crossfire protection and improved maneuverability enable faster and more precise troop operations.

“Magnus has been created for tactical operations, including military and national security purposes,” Al Blooshi said, noting that the vehicle has been designed to overcome the harshest and most challenging environments.

Magnus offers enhanced protection with Level II ballistic and mine protection throughout the lower body by leveraging advanced composite materials. Its elegance and latest technology combine hypercar designs with maximum performance on and off the road.

“The vehicle has been designed for a faster, smarter and greener tomorrow,” said Al Blooshi.

It has an AI-powered platform for a virtual assistant that offers inputs like predictive alerts, route optimization, and more.

“This feature is useful during military missions,” Al Blooshi stressed.

Al Blooshi revealed that plans are underway to launch a street-legal vehicle for commercial use by 2025.

“It will be called Magnum. It will be for ordinary people to drive. It will be slightly smaller and have different specifications than the Magnus, which is a concept vehicle for military purposes. There is much more to come.”
