Dubai: A new initiative by government entities offers Emirati retirees in Dubai benefits and incentives, including priority in allocation of government projects, funding for their future projects, waiver of service fees for five years and consultation support for their projects to ensure optimal performance. .
The measure is part of Dubai Social Agenda 33, launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, under the theme “Family: The Foundation of Our Nation” .
The General Command of Dubai Police and the Department of Economy and Tourism of Dubai, represented by the Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment for Small and Medium Enterprises (Dubai SME), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the launch of the “’Dubai Retiree Projects Support’ program.
The MoU was recently signed by Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police and Member of the Higher Committee for Development and Citizen Affairs of Dubai, and Helal Saeed Al Marri, Director General of the Dubai Department of Economy . and Tourism.
Operating under the umbrella of the Higher Committee for Development and Citizen Affairs, the program aims to support projects launched by retirees through the Mohammed bin Rashid Fund for SMEs, in line with Dubai Social Agenda 33’s goal of turning Dubai into a center for SMEs.
Who are the beneficiaries?
The Dubai Retiree Project Support Program targets two groups of Dubai citizens; existing retirees and employees approaching retirement. It aims to use the expertise of these two groups to support the development of Dubai, helping them contribute to the emirate’s current achievements.
In addition to launching a retiree council to facilitate communication with them, the program will offer additional job opportunities for retirees and those approaching retirement. The objective is to provide them with an additional source of income to improve their financial stability, while benefiting from their skills and experience through their participation in SMEs.
Other services provided through the program include consultations to help beneficiaries plan the next phase of their lives, ensuring a happier retirement and continuation of their positive role in society. The program also offers support to retirees and employees approaching retirement in collaboration with private sector companies based in Dubai.
To facilitate business processes and ease the financial burden on retirees, the program exempts them from service fees for a period of five years. This encourages them to increase their competitiveness in the SME sector, a key pillar of the national economy and an important driver of the transformation towards a knowledge economy.
How does it work
Retired Dubai citizens and employees approaching retirement can benefit from the services offered as part of the Dubai Retiree Project Support Program by applying through Dubai SME. In addition to supporting its small and medium-sized businesses, the program gives them priority in carrying out government projects and tenders in coordination with the relevant entities.
The Dubai Police General Command is launching a regularly updated database to monitor the experience and specialized skills of retirees and employees approaching retirement. This facilitates services that match their lines of expertise and prepares them to enter the market through Dubai SME.
Lieutenant General Al Marri said: “The Dubai Retiree Project Support Program translates the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and the directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council. , and President of the Higher Committee for Development and Citizen Affairs, to dedicate all available resources to improving the quality of life of our citizens. It also aligns with the objectives of Dubai Social Agenda 33 to improve their well-being and family stability.”
Helal Al Marri said: “The Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism is keen to support SMEs, recognizing their leading role in establishing Dubai as a global hub for business, tourism, entrepreneurship and the digital economy. SMEs represent a crucial driver of comprehensive and sustainable development. Encouraging retirees to participate in the field of entrepreneurship will help us use their many years of experience to support economic sustainability and social stability.”
Abdul Baset Al Janahi, CEO of Dubai SME, said: “Dubai SME offers a number of incentives and benefits to retirees who wish to launch their own projects in Dubai. These include financing, training, process facilitation and technical consultations.
