WGS 2024: Presidents of the UAE and Turkey discuss improving bilateral relations

Sheikh Mohamed emphasized the significant and qualitative progress in relations between the United Arab Emirates and Turkey in recent years, especially in investment, trade, energy, technology and sustainable development, among other areas.
The two countries are committed to further improving their relations and are currently working to leverage this development for a better future in their bilateral relations. President Erdogan expressed his gratitude and appreciation for hosting Turkey as the guest of honor at this year’s edition of the summit.
The Turkish president conveyed his deepest condolences and solidarity to His Highness the President of the United Arab Emirates for the nation’s martyrs, members of the armed forces who lost their lives in a terrorist attack in Somalia while carrying out their duty to train the Somali armed forces. Sheikh Mohamed thanked the Turkish president for his sympathy towards the United Arab Emirates and its people.
Discussions also covered the World Government Summit 2024 and its agenda items, underscoring its importance in providing global governance with innovative ideas and visions to strengthen its capacity to address current and future challenges.
Sheikh Mohamed and the Turkish President exchanged views on various regional and international issues of mutual interest. They also discussed regional developments, focusing on the current situation in the Gaza Strip, underlining the imperative of international action to secure a ceasefire and ensure the full protection of civilians in accordance with international humanitarian law.
The two leaders also emphasized the need to ensure the delivery of sufficient and sustained humanitarian aid to the population of Gaza and prevent their exposure to further devastation and displacement, while avoiding the expansion of conflicts in the Middle East that endanger regional peace and stability.
The meeting was attended by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and President of the Presidential Court, other sheikhs and senior officials.
