UAE floating hospital docks in Al Arish, Egypt, begins receiving injured Palestinians


The hospital, established in collaboration with the Ministry of Defence, Abu Dhabi Department of Health (DoH) and AD Ports Group, includes medical and administrative staff of 100 from various specialties including anesthesia, general surgery, orthopedics and emergency medicine . as well as nurses and paramedics.

The hospital has a capacity of 100 beds, as well as an operating room and intensive care rooms, a radiology unit, a laboratory, a pharmacy and medical offices.

The maritime hospital is an additional step that complements the operations of the UAE’s 200-bed integrated field hospital, which was inaugurated on December 3, 2023, with a medical staff consisting of 83 volunteers of 21 nationalities, including 59 men and 24 women.

As of February 24, 2024, the UAE field hospital has treated more than 6,146 cases, providing a variety of medical services, including life-saving surgeries, intensive care, consultations and other medical and therapeutic services.

For his part, Dr. Falah Almahmoud, director of the Floating Hospital, said that the arrival of the medical center will improve the medical support system provided by the UAE to the people of Gaza to alleviate their suffering. “The hospital is equipped with the best and most modern equipment that helps provide all types of treatment and medical care in accordance with the best international standards and protocols.”

He added that the hospital upon arrival began to receive the injured and sick, providing them with all the care, treatment and medicines.

“The hospital has started receiving Palestinian and wounded patients immediately after their arrival at the port of the Egyptian city of Al Arish,” he added, noting that the hospital provides all forms of care, treatment and medication that the patients need, according to the highest standards of medical care.

The floating hospital is equipped with a helipad and a marine boat, which enhance the response to emergency and difficult cases that require rapid medical intervention, he added.

Several Palestinian patients who were received at the floating hospital expressed their gratitude to the UAE and the wise leadership for this noble humanitarian initiative that provides comprehensive medical care to all wounded and sick Palestinians. They stressed that this humanitarian response by the United Arab Emirates embodies the country’s steadfast approach to standing by the Palestinian people and supporting them in all circumstances. They also praised the efforts of the medical teams and volunteers who have given them all their support since the beginning of the crisis.
