UAE airports surpass 134 million passenger mark in 2023, 140 million projected by 2024

Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director General of the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), announced that UAE airports surpassed the 134 million passenger mark in 2023 and are projected to reach 140 million in 2024.

He attributed this achievement to the strength and competitiveness of the UAE aviation sector, which has earned considerable international trust.

Al Suwaidi He highlighted that UAE airports recorded approximately 38 million arrivals, 37.805 million departures and 58.328 million transit passengers in 2023. He emphasized that this growth was driven by the resurgence of tourism and the successful holding of major international conferences towards the end. of year.

Expressing optimism for 2024, Al Suwaidi anticipated further growth in passenger traffic to potentially reach 140 million. He mentioned the ongoing expansions at international airports, particularly the opening of Zayed International Airport – Terminal A and the ongoing expansion of Al Maktoum International Airport. These developments will allow UAE airlines to operate more flights to various destinations.

Al Suwaidi underlined the UAE’s strong aviation sector, which has more than 521 aircraft belonging to national airlines and a total of 924 aircraft registered in the country. He also highlighted the presence of numerous local and foreign aircraft maintenance companies, training institutions and specialized medical facilities serving civil aviation.
