A new bus service has been introduced to transport visitors from Abu Dhabi city to the newly opened BAPS Hindu mandir, the traditional sandstone temple at Abu Mureikha, just off the Abu Dhabi-Dubai Highway.
The service will start at Abu Dhabi Bus Terminal and will run along Sultan bin Zayed, the first street, popular as Muroor Street, through Hamdan bin Mohammed Street, to Al Bahyah, Al Shahama and BAPS Mandir as the last stop.
The trip from the city to the temple will be about 90 minutes. The service will operate to the temple in addition to the existing stops offered by 201 in suburban areas.
Pujya Brahmaviharidas Swami of BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha thanked the local authorities for the new bus service.
Service over the weekend will see the existing bus number 201 (Al Bahyah Souq) replaced by 203 (BAPS Temple). Community members have already begun using the service available on Saturdays and Sundays.
“This is a great service that connects the popular streets of Abu Dhabi with the temple and will help community members travel to the temple during weekends,” said Rakesh Yadav, a resident who traveled to the temple on Sunday.

Community members must have a Hafilat card to travel by bus. Recently, the Integrated Transport Center (ITC) of the Abu Dhabi Department of Municipalities and Transport integrated urban and suburban transport services into a standard service with a fare set at 2 dirhams and an additional five fils for each kilometer travelled. Traveling without a bus card carries a fine of Dh200.
