School hours in Dubai during Ramadan should not exceed five hours of instruction, the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) announced on Wednesday.

The start of the holy month in the country is expected to be March 12, although precise dates may vary slightly due to local lunar sightings.

In the meantime, most schools will consult with parents to determine actual schedules and submit them to KDHA.

Some schools have established a schedule of 7:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Monday to Thursday; and regular school hours on Fridays.

Schools will soon determine start and end times

Dubai’s education regulator has also ordered the administrations of private schools in Dubai to determine the start and end.

To accommodate both the school and parents, adjustments will be made to the school schedule, especially as institutions prepare to observe the holy month.

This initiative aims to create optimal educational environments for private school students throughout the auspicious month, prioritizing the well-being of the students.

Instill spiritual values

The goal is to emphasize the importance of the Holy Month to all enrolled students, with a specific focus on instilling spiritual values ​​associated with Ramadan.

It is worth noting that most UAE schools would probably have finished their internal exams before the start of Ramadan.

Principals reiterated that they strive to minimize assessments and keep them low during this period so that students can dedicate enough time to family and prayer instead of intensive study.

Helen Hurford, Deputy Principal at GEMS Wellington Academy – Silicon Oasis, previously said: “We always aim to keep assessments to a minimum during Ramadan as we want to help students have as much time as possible for family and prayer during the Ramadan period. Ramadan. instead of checking.”

School holidays will overlap

For most international curriculum institutions, almost 10 days of spring break will coincide with Ramadan.

In Indian curricular schools, the beginning of Ramadan occurs three weeks before the start of the new academic year. This results in most students experiencing a short holiday after their annual exams, which overlap with the holy month and precede the start of the new academic year.
