Dubai: The UAE government has launched a ‘Job Package’ to facilitate employee residency procedures and work permits in private sector companies. The first phase of the initiative will be implemented in Dubai and will gradually expand to include other emirates.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, announced: “In our continued pursuit of government excellence, we have recently introduced the ‘Zero Bureaucracy’ initiative, aimed at streamlining procedures and improve efficiency within the federal government… In alignment with this vision, today marks the inaugural launch of the ‘Employment Package’, a pioneering project designed to accelerate, simplify and streamline processes related to residency and employment.” .
He said: “The jobs package will recover 62 million working days previously dedicated to the renewal of residences and work contracts within government frameworks. This project is expected to reduce 25 million procedures annually, thereby generating substantial savings for both the government and private sectors. We want to thank all federal and local entities for their invaluable collaboration in making this project a reality. The initiative is the result of close cooperation between federal and local government entities to allow customers to complete their transactions in the fewest steps possible through digital platforms where the service is available.
The entities include: the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization, the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Port Security, the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai and Dubai Health. The project is supported by the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism.
The project is also supported by Digital Dubai, which provides digital infrastructure and services to enable seamless data exchange between relevant entities.

The “Work Package” is a key step within the UAE’s digital transformation efforts in a way that contributes to improving the UAE’s competitiveness in global indicators related to the ease of establishing and managing business for private sector companies.

The initiative is part of the Invest in Dubai platform, which will serve more than 275,000 companies in Dubai in its first phase.
Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, CEO of GDRFA Dubai, said they expect a 25 percent increase in service transactions this year after the launch of the new platform.
He said: “It is a way to issue or renew residency for an employee. The new package will reduce service steps and visits. With the help of AI and without human intervention, the time [for processing] will be reduced by more than 75 percent.”
He pointed out that regarding the results of the “Business Package”, entrepreneurs will be able to obtain integrated and proactive packages with partners that ensure reducing the steps to obtain services, in addition to reducing the number of mandatory visits to two, one for an aptitude exam. . and the other for fingerprints.
