The United Arab Emirates restructures the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization

Abu Dhabi: His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, approved the new structure of the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization and the establishment of a coordination council for the labor market in the United Arab Emirates.
The decisions were announced during Monday’s Cabinet meeting, chaired by Sheikh Mohammed, at Qasr Al Watan in Abu Dhabi. Emirati citizens aged 21 years or older can now extend the validity of their passports by 10 years under new amendments to the executive regulation of the Federal Law on Nationality and Passports.
The United Arab Emirates leads in attracting talents
“Today I chaired a cabinet meeting at Qasr Al Watan in Abu Dhabi, where we reviewed the most important developments in the UAE labor market. The United Arab Emirates ranked first globally in lack of labor disputes according to the IMD Global Competitiveness Yearbook, and first globally in its ability to attract talent according to the Talent Attractiveness Index and third place in world-class in digital skills,” Sheikh Mohammed said in a post shared on his X account.
“Today we have more than 7 million employees in all sectors under unemployment insurance and 98.8 percent of our workforce under the Workers Protection Insurance Program,” the Vice President said.
“Today we approved a new structure for the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization, along with the establishment of a coordination council for the labor market in the United Arab Emirates, aimed at strengthening market stability and improving competitiveness,” Sheikh commented. Muhammad. “By recognizing the workforce as the true engine of our economy, we prioritize their issues and ensure the protection of their rights, laying a solid foundation for our national economic growth.”
“300 billion dirham project”
The meeting reviewed the results of the ‘300 billion dirham project’, which was launched in 2021 with the aim of increasing the annual GDP contribution of the industrial sector to 300 billion dirhams by 2031.
The contribution to the country’s GDP has now reached Dh197 billion, a notable increase from Dh132 billion. “We are on the right path to achieving our goal. Since the launch of the National Content Program, which aims to integrate the national product into our industrial production, national spending has increased to 67 billion dirhams in 2023,” Sheikh Mohammed stressed.
“The development of the industrial sector remains an important national economic priority and we are diligently monitoring this initiative by providing numerous incentives for sectoral growth,” he added.
Biofuel policy
During the meeting, the national policy for the circulation and manufacture of biofuels in the country was also approved. The policy aims to support the UAE’s approaches to providing clean, sustainable and low-carbon energy sources.
Passport validity
“We also approve the modification of the executive regulation of the Federal Nationality and Passport Law. We have decided to extend the validity period of the UAE passport from five to 10 years for people over 21 years of age. The new amendments also include additional facilities and comprehensive digital services to be provided by the relevant authorities,” Sheikh Mohammed added.
Achievements of the Digital Wellbeing Council
The Cabinet reviewed the achievements of the UAE Digital Wellbeing Council, which managed to remove more than 160,000 websites and accounts targeting our youth with harmful content, such as drug promotion.
“Today we received a report on the achievements of the Digital Wellbeing Council. Working with social media platforms, the council successfully removed over 160,000 websites and accounts targeting our young people with harmful content such as drug promotion. We emphasize that the family plays a crucial role in protecting our children, promoting awareness and instilling moral values in the younger generations. It is imperative that families, media and schools work together to protect our children, who are the cornerstone of our nation’s future prosperity,” Sheikh Mohammed said.
