The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed the upgrade of 165 of the 262 ticket vending machines (TVMs) at metro stations. The measure aims to delight subway users by implementing several improvements and updates to these devices.

Through this initiative, RTA aims to achieve two important objectives; upgrade devices to allow digital payment transactions to replenish the card balance and allow these devices to return change in the form of paper or currency. Besides, RTA seeks to improve the satisfaction of Dubai Metro users, including residents, visitors and tourists from around the world.

Hassan Al Mutawa, Director of Railway Operations at the Railway Agency, RTAsaying,

“The refreshed TVMs have a sleek design and distinct colors to help customers easily spot them at every station. These devices reduce transaction processing time by 40%, ensuring passengers have a seamless and comfortable experience. As part of the improvements made to the TVMs at Dubai Metro stations on the Red and Green Lines, the machines can handle both banknotes and coins, meeting customer needs. Passengers can now also complete the cardless card recharge process much faster, reducing waiting time at TVMs.

“This initiative arises from RTA’s ambitious vision as ‘World Leader in fluid and sustainable mobility’, confirming its commitment to customer satisfaction. “RTA’s commitment to innovation is evident from the continuous efforts made to improve efficiency and adopt advanced approaches to provide better services to passengers.”

Al-Mutawa Furthermore,

“RTA aims to achieve customer happiness by reducing transaction processing times and improving accessibility. RTA focuses strongly on financial sustainability and operational efficiency, with the secure digitalization of services being a key objective. To encourage customers to adopt digital payments, RTA plans to increase the current 20 percent segment of nol users adopting digital methods on Dubai Metro. This will reduce the logistical services associated with cash handling.

“Dubai Metro is a step towards a future that prioritizes convenient and sustainable transportation. “RTA is committed to offering world-class services that meet the changing requirements of its diverse passengers.”

Al-Mutawa he concluded.
