As the holy month of Ramadan progresses with fasting, worship and community gatherings, there are many more immersive activities to look forward to in Abu Dhabi this weekend. A series of activations have been launched from parks, shopping centers and museums to celebrate cultural traditions.

Experience the tradition of Ramadan in the park.

Visitors to Umm Al Emarat Park, one of Abu Dhabi’s largest and oldest urban parks, can enjoy iftar cannon shooting, a vibrant Ramadan market, cinemas and more cultural activities and experiences. The Ramadan Park Market, with shopping experiences, dining options, storytelling, puppet shows and a variety of interesting activities, is open every Friday and Saturday until March 30, from 8 pm to 1 am The park has organized a Ramadan-themed treasure hunt where visitors can search for hidden treasures and clues that will reveal exciting surprises. Cinema in the Park is projected in the Children’s Garden (7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.). Additionally, there are Ramadan nights titled ‘First Steps – Awl Khatwat’ for fitness enthusiasts.


Last two days of the Louvre exhibition

The Cartier, Islamic Inspiration and Modern Design exhibition comes to a close at the Louvre Abu Dhabi on Sunday. It is a final opportunity for art lovers to delve deeper into the Islamic influences on Cartier’s design. The exhibition presents more than 400 works including jewelry and precious objects, masterpieces of Islamic art, drawings, textiles and photographs. Additionally, visitors can see four iconic works of art, recent additions to the museum, gifted by its patron Snow Li. Not to mention the captivating events and live performances that take place nightly under the iconic dome.

Mark reading month with 150 activities.

Maktaba, the library management department within the cultural sector of the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism (DCT – Abu Dhabi), organizes more than 150 events and activities during March, considered the month of reading. The cultural evenings include programs, seminars, reading workshops and activities for children, students, young people, adults and determined people. The ‘Ramadan Majlis’ will feature interactive workshops, cultural and entertainment activities, as well as competitions throughout the month of Ramadan. Fun, music, discounts, prizes at the shopping center.

Bawabat Al Sharq Mall in suburban Bani Yas offers fun-filled activities and events at its special Ramadan Village. Until the third day of Eid Al Fitr, visitors can enjoy the enchanting sounds of Oud and Qanun, play games, try their luck at Fawazir Ramadan and win prizes. There is a children’s area, a face painting corner, a henna station, traditional Ayyalah dance performances, discounts and promotions on different items. In addition, there is the ‘Buy and Win’ campaign whose grand prize is the new Nissan Patrol Titanium. To enter the draw, shoppers must spend Dh200 or more at any of the mall’s stores, or Dh400 at Carrefour, by April 14.

Enjoy ‘Hag Al Laila’ together with gifts, sweets

Encouraging community participation and celebrating cultural traditions, Galleria Al Maryah Island presents ‘Hag Al Laila’ activities for the first time. From Friday to Sunday, children and their parents will receive gifts and candy in paper bags on Level 3, Central Kitchens. Additionally, until April 14, a family playground has been installed at Level 2, North Link Bridge, for families to immerse themselves in activities, including sub-football games, face and henna painting, puzzles table, Jenga, a ball pit, and more.

Celebrate heritage community ties

This holy month sees vibrant celebrations unfold on Hudayriyat Island with Hakawati story-telling, a solo lute performance by talented artists and a cultural bazaar with traditional abayas, intricate henna designs and vibrant face painting on Fridays. On Saturdays there are shows by Tarabish bands with lively performances, the melodic glow of the Qanoon and the bazaar. Likewise, the traditional souk will host various activities and cultural displays. The ideal place on the island is the Entertainment Area and Bazaar every Friday and Saturday (8 pm to 1 am).

Check out the largest sports dome in the region

If staying on Hudayriyat Island, fitness lovers will want to check out the new additions to 321 Sports by Modon. It features the largest covered sports dome in the region, an elite club that offers professional teams and elite athletes a dedicated space for training and matches, a community sports building, several sports fields and courts, as well as a semi-Olympic swimming pool. The expansion of full-size fields with FIFA and world rugby standards, fields with artificial grass technology and more. Cricket players have a field and two batting cages at their disposal. Racquet sports lovers can choose from six shaded tennis courts and five indoor paddle tennis courts.
