United Arab Emirates: ‘Paradise’ system treats 3 patients with high blood pressure

The procedures were performed on patients between 45 and 75 years old, who were unable to control their blood pressure despite taking more than four different types of medications, EHS said Tuesday.

These three operations represent a leap in catheterization techniques using the Paradise system, the first offered by EHS and implemented at Al Qassimi Hospital as a cutting-edge technological solution for the treatment of high blood pressure, he stated.

The Paradise catheterization process, which sets a new standard in the Middle East region, involves the precise heating and isolation of the sympathetic nerves that line the renal arteries, which is essential in the treatment of hypertension. In addition, it emits ultrasound waves that penetrate the arterial wall in a range of 1 mm to 6 mm using balloons of different sizes, from 3.5 mm to 8 mm. Each artery requires two to four waves, and each wave lasts about seven seconds.

The catheterization procedure with Paradise usually lasts about an hour and patients are discharged from the hospital within 24 hours. The cost of the operation ranges between 40,000 and 60,000 dirhams.

Dr. Essam Al Zarooni, Acting Executive Director of EHS Clinical Services Sector, said: “EHS demonstrates a strong commitment to providing comprehensive and specialized healthcare to patients through advanced medical procedures such as catheterization at the Heart Center of the Al Qassimi Hospital using the Paradise system. “This further cements its position as a leading healthcare entity both locally and globally.”

Dr Arif Al Nooryani, director of Al Qassimi Hospital in Sharjah, said: “These interventions not only improve the quality of life of patients and mitigate serious health complications associated with such conditions, but also reduce the risks of attacks heart disease and stroke, which ultimately strengthens the health of the community. health in general.”
