UAE Fatwa Council allows giving Zakat Al Fitr in cash

[ad_1]

The UAE Fatwa Council said it is okay to give Zakat Al Fitr in money, recommending AED 25 per person at AH 1,445.

This is a must for all Muslims who can afford it, regardless of age or gender. The head of the family must pay for his spouse, his children and other dependents. Before Eid Al Fitr, the Council explained that Zakat Al Fitr is necessary, following a saying by Ibn Omar, where the Prophet Muhammad made it mandatory to give charity at the end of Ramadan, whether in barley or dates. The UAE Fatwa Council also said that Zakat Al Fitr is equivalent to 2.5 kilograms of rice per person, and that it can be given in the form of rice or money.
