Foreign visitors can also use these stands to submit their biometric data to obtain SIM cards.
UAE nationals and residents will have the convenience of submitting their biometric data, renewing their passports and processing Emirates IDs 24/7 in the near future.
He Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) is working on a model project through which the kiosks will allow UAE nationals and expatriates to renew their Emirates passports and IDs instantly. Following the success of the project, these kiosks will be installed in prime locations throughout the country, such as airports and shopping centers.
The federal body has displayed a kiosk for visitors to experience at Gitex Global at the Dubai World Trade Centre. Gitex is the world’s largest gathering of technology companies, with more than 6,000 companies and startups from the public and private sectors showcasing their latest innovations.
In the first phase, UAE residents and visitors will be able to submit their biometric data only through the kiosks, eliminating the requirement to make appointments to submit biometric data at ICP service centers as these services will be available 24/7 in the future.
Importantly, there will also be a printer connected to the kiosk, allowing UAE citizens and residents to print their Emirates IDs and visas on the spot. The kiosk will also be able to print passports for UAE citizens and visas for visitors.
Foreign visitors can also use the kiosks to submit their biometric data and obtain SIM cards. The machine will be able to capture fingerprints and signatures and take photographs.
The federal authority is working on the project and it could be implemented once the tests are successfully completed in 2023 or 2024.
