Dubai Police have seized 36 vehicles in the past two days due to various violations committed by drivers, authorities said on Friday.

Colonel Muhammad Abdullah Khalfan Al Qaedi, deputy director of the General Traffic Department of Dubai Police, said: “The violations ranged from reckless driving, endangering one’s own life or the lives of others, causing disturbances on the road and making unauthorized modifications. authorized in the vehicle engine. or chassis, disturbing residents, unclear license plates and littering on public roads.”

Colonel Al Qaedi noted that under recent amendments to the traffic law in Dubai that came into effect on July 6, motorists who are reckless or run a red light will have to pay up to Dh50,000 to recover their confiscated vehicles. . released.

“The law punishes those who endanger lives or damage roads with heavy fines and vehicle seizures for varying periods,” he stressed.

He added: “At least 80 per cent of offenders were involved in serious accidents, resulting in deaths and serious injuries. “Dubai Police will not be lenient in addressing all types of violations to ensure the safety of all road users.”
