The UAE is expected to generate a total capacity of 19.8 gigawatts of clean energy by 2030. Suhail bin Mohamed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructuretold a global audience of energy leaders at the inauguration of ADIPEC 2023which met today under the topic of ‘Decarbonize. Speaking at the ADIPEC ministerial panel on the topic “Accelerating the energy transition”, Al Mazrouei saying :

”With one of the fastest growing clean energy industries in the world, the UAE will generate a total capacity of 19.8 gigawatts of clean energy by 2030. Additionally, the UAE seeks to become a leading producer and supplier of clean energy . carbon hydrogen, working to produce 1.4 million metric tons of low-carbon hydrogen per year by 2031 and 15 million metric tons per year by 2050.”

He stated that international collaboration is crucial to addressing energy challenges.

“By 2030, the world will be home to 500 million more people, who will demand more energy each year. At the same time, the global challenge of climate change demands urgent and revolutionary solutions to eliminate emissions. Every government, industry, business and individual has a role to play in decarbonizing faster and creating the energy future faster, while safeguarding energy security and ensuring no one is left behind.

“Decarbonizing together, faster, is not just the theme of ADIPEC 2023, it is a call to the industry to work together to transform, decarbonize and prepare our industry for the future. “We want to accelerate the innovation and tangible actions needed to enable a lower-carbon, higher-growth future for the world.”

The panel explored how innovative policies and inclusive practices are the key to meeting growing energy demand and achieving net-zero emissions. The panel also agreed on the important role that governments must play in driving both collaboration and investment. Ministers highlighted the importance of facilitating a just, low-carbon future, while simultaneously reducing emissions and boosting economic growth.

Ministers from Türkiye and Romania also discussed initiatives underway in their respective countries designed to facilitate the transition to a cleaner energy system.

Over four days, ADIPEC 2023 will feature 10 conferences, including a new conference focused on hydrogen and an expanded strategic conference on decarbonization, addressing a variety of topics such as energy security, mobilizing finance and investments, and developing a value carbon free. chain. Across 16 exhibition halls, ADIPEC will bring together more than 2,200 companies and will feature 30 national pavilions and four specialized areas focused on facilitating cross-sector collaboration and innovative partnerships.

ADIPEC 2023, which will be held in Abu Dhabi from October 2 to 5, has brought together more than 160,000 attendees from 160 countries. More than 40 ministers and 120 senior global executives will contribute to the conference’s more than 350 sessions, addressing key priorities of the energy transition, including tackling methane and carbon emissions, increasing investment in technology and renewable energy, the decarbonization of heavy industries and the development of future leaders.
