Residents can now get information about medicines through Whatsapp

The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) has launched a new 24/7 WhatsApp service, which includes a directory of registered medical products.

With this service, users can inquire about medicines registered in the UAE and obtain detailed information about each medicine, including its name, active ingredients, dosage form, package size available in the country and retail price.

Through the directory, the ministry seeks to provide a complete list of medicines and medical products that have been officially registered on the ministry’s website. MoHAP He said the service can be accessed through smart devices and information is available 24 hours a day from credible sources.

The new service was presented during Gitex Global 2023, which is currently taking place at the Dubai World Trade Centre. This is part of the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to strengthen public health awareness, provide people with accurate information about appropriate medications, promote compliance with treatment plans, and minimize medication errors.

By improving transparency and trust in pharmaceutical products, the service helps patients make informed health decisions based on their needs and doctors’ directives. In this way, both patients and healthcare providers can access approved medical products on the market to meet their needs.

Innovative digital services

Ahmed Ali Al Dashti, Deputy Undersecretary of the Support Services Sector, He said the newly introduced service is part of a set of projects launched by the ministry. It aims to ensure comprehensive, innovative and proactive health services based on digital data for all segments of society, and provide institutional services within an efficient digital framework.

“The medical products directory also facilitates access for medical and pharmaceutical professionals to view registered and authorized medicines, which can be searched by trade or scientific name. The newly developed interactive platform, available in English, offers a distinctive experience aligned with international best practices.”

The recently launched initiative is a product of collaboration between the Ministry and health authorities, aligning with the UAE government’s commitment to promote and safeguard patients’ rights. It also underlines the government’s dedication to providing all necessary services to enhance the capabilities of patients and facilitate their integration into society.
