Abu Dhabi: The President, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, today received Lee Hsien Loong, Prime Minister of the Republic of Singapore, who is on an official visit to the United Arab Emirates.
Upon the Prime Minister of Singapore’s arrival at Qasr Al Watan in Abu Dhabi, an official reception ceremony was held. Sheikh Mohamed accompanied the Prime Minister of Singapore to the stage, where the national anthems of the United Arab Emirates and Singapore were played.
A 21-gun salute was fired, while a contingent of the honor guard stood in formation, providing a traditional welcome to commemorate their visit.

Later, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Lee Hsien Loong discussed the deep-rooted relations and comprehensive partnership between the two countries and explored avenues for their development in the service of mutual interests. The Prime Minister of Singapore conveyed greetings from Tharman Shanmugaratnam, President of Singapore, and his wishes for the continued progress and prosperity of the UAE. Importance of COP28
The discussion also touched on the upcoming United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28), which the United Arab Emirates will host later this year. The two sides noted the importance of the conference to generate sustainable solutions that mean a substantial change in global climate action for the collective benefit of all people, reflecting the interest of both nations in environmental, climate, renewable energy and sustainability issues. .
In addition, the two sides discussed the need to promote the values of tolerance, coexistence and dialogue, given their close link to regional and international peace and stability. The leaders agreed that these values are the basis for achieving progress, development and sustainable prosperity for their people.
The UAE President emphasized the strong relations between the UAE and Singapore, noting that the UAE has great interest in Singapore’s development experience, which stands as a distinguished model of progress. His Highness stated that the two countries share many points in common, as both are pioneering models of development, centers of trade and finance, and advocates of tolerance and coexistence with a special interest in education and investment in human capital, while supporting global peace.
He also highlighted the UAE’s determination to expand relations with Singapore, especially in vital sectors that serve development, including technology, energy, education, sustainability, trade and investment, among others. He noted that the UAE is Singapore’s largest trading partner in the Middle East and North Africa.
