December long weekend on the occasion of National Day

The 2023 holidays in the UAE will end in December.

The country is preparing to commemorate its 52nd National Day on December 2, a significant and historic day for the nation.

This annual celebration marks the unity and formation of the United Arab Emirates, a union of emirates that includes Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Umm Al-Quwain, Fujairah and Ajman. Remembrance Day falls on Friday 1 December, followed by National Day on Saturday 2 December and an additional National Day holiday on Sunday 3 December.

That said, it is unclear at this time whether the National Day holidays will be equivalent to a day off from work.

If Remembrance Day is marked by a public holiday, UAE residents can expect a three-day weekend, from Friday, December 1 to Sunday, December 3.

According to the official list of holidays published by the UAE government, the UAE National Day grand festivities will take place on December 2. As December 2nd is a Saturday, followed by December 3rd, a Sunday, giving residents a spectacular 3-day weekend to take part in the celebrations.

Additionally, residents in the UAE will also have the opportunity to honor the nation’s heroes from November 30 to December 1, which is celebrated as Remembrance Day.

This important national holiday, formerly known as Martyrs’ Day, pays tribute to the sacrifices and dedication of Emirati martyrs who have given their lives in various fields, including civil, military and humanitarian service.

This wonderful confluence of holidays results in an extended three-day weekend, allowing UAE residents to fully participate in the National Day celebrations and take a moment to remember the heroes who have contributed to the growth and the prosperity of the country.
