Dubai KHDA asks private institutions to consider remote learning on Friday after heavy rain

Classes in all UAE federal government schools will only be held online on Friday, following heavy rain and flooding that hit many parts of the country on Thursday.
The KHDA (Knowledge and Human Development Authority) has asked all private institutions in Dubai “to consider distance education”.
The UAE Media Office said the Council of Ministers made the decision as a safety measure, taking into account the adverse weather conditions affecting the country.

On Thursday, heavy rain, accompanied by thunder and lightning, hit Dubai, Abu Dhabi and many parts of the Northern Emirates, forcing schools to order early suspension of classes.
Some schools informed parents that students “may return home with wet feet due to flooding at bus stops.”
Parents and students received notifications from schools that Friday activities were canceled or moved online due to inclement weather conditions.
According to the National Center of Meteorology (NCM), rains of varying intensity are expected for the next few days.
