A 10-year-old Emirati boy saved his family from a deadly fire in Sharjah on Wednesday, a local newspaper reported. Emarat al Youm.
The young man, Ahmed Haitham Ahmed Al Naqbi, woke up after midnight, around 2am, to report to his father a burning smell coming from his bedroom at his residence in the Kalba area of Sharjah.
Upon inspection, the boy’s father, Haitham Ahmed Al-Naqbi, ran to his children’s room where he found a fire spreading from the air conditioning unit across the bedroom, which was located right above Ahmed’s bed. .
Haitham quickly evacuated her two other children, Nahyan (9 years old) and Maktoum (8 years old), who were sleeping when the air conditioner caught fire.
According to the report, Haitham narrated how he saw flames falling from the air conditioner onto the bed of his eldest son, Ahmed. Ahmed took his little brother along with his father, while the rest of the family headed to a safe area outside the premises of their home.
The fire alarm system had already alerted the authorities at this point due to the dense smoke emitted and the intense flames. The civil protection team quickly went to his house and prevented the fire from spreading to the rest of the house in time.
Emarat al Youm quoted Haitham speaking with pride of his son’s attentive response: “My son’s quick action contributed, in a few minutes, to preserving the lives of his brothers and his mother. His conscious knowledge of the emergency situation that resulted from the smoke emitted by the air conditioning in his room made him protect his two brothers, since moments after the children’s room was evacuated, it completely caught fire.
Al-Naqbi also mentioned that his son Ahmed radiates a strong personality and a great sense of responsibility towards his siblings and family.
