Sharjah to showcase integrated tourism developments at World Travel Market – News

Sharjah is preparing for a significant presence at the 43rd edition of the World Travel Market (WTM) in London from November 6 to 8, where representatives from around the world will gather for this global event.

Sharjah will be represented by a coalition of 18 government and private entities in collaboration with the Sharjah Trade and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA), focusing on showcasing the emirate’s notable achievements in aligning the growth of the tourism sector with the preservation of the environment, heritage and cultural values, an essential component of its sustainable tourism diversification strategy.

Throughout its participation, the emirate will highlight a wide range of exceptional experiences and destinations, spanning environmental, desert, heritage, cultural, recreational, adventure and sports tourism.

Sharjah is distinguished by its unique environmental diversity, stretching from the desert to the islands, including iconic locations such as the Khorfakkan Amphitheater, Mleiha Archaeological and Ecotourism Project, Buhais Geological Park, Sharjah Safari and nature reserves such as the of Wasit Wetlands and Al Qurm Nature. The emirate has remained steadfast in its growth. In 2022, Sharjah hotels welcomed more than 1.4 million guests and this year there has been a substantial increase in guest numbers. This year, several prominent institutions and entities are participating in collaboration with SCTDA, including the Sharjah International Airport Authority, the Environment and Protected Areas Authority (EPAA), the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), the Sharjah Museums, Sharjah Heritage Institute, as well as Sharjah Asset Management, Sharjah International Marine Sports Club, Expo Center Sharjah, Sharjah Sports Council and Sharjah Old Cars Club.

From the private sector, participating entities in collaboration with SCTDA include Sharjah Airport Travel Agency (SATA), Sharjah National Hotels, The Chedi Al Bait Hotel, Sharjah, Coral Beach Resort, Sheraton Sharjah Beach Resort & Spa, Golden Sands Hotel, Holidays Tours, and TravTalk.

He emphasized the intrinsic connection between the tourism sector and international relations, stating that it serves as a vital bridge to global audiences while fostering stronger links and partnerships with influential organizations that shape travel and tourism trends across the world. Furthermore, he highlighted collaborative efforts between government and private sector entities to position Sharjah as an exceptionally attractive and diverse tourism destination, offering a variety of integrated tourism options and experiences on a regional and global scale.

He further commented: “The tourism sector is evolving at a rapid pace, with increasing emphasis on authentic environmental, heritage and cultural tourism. Sharjah has consistently remained at the forefront of adopting these tourism strategies, driven by its commitment to sustainable development standards that enjoy widespread support across all sectors, with tourism at the forefront.”

It provides a platform for industry operators from around the world to showcase their unique achievements and experiences. It also provides networking opportunities to build relationships and partnerships with peers around the world. This year’s 43rd edition of the exhibition sees the participation of 5,000 exhibitors, presenting their achievements, innovations and visions of global travel to around 51,000 visitors from various countries around the world.
