The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) issued yellow and orange alerts for convective clouds, associated with precipitation, over coastal areas and some inland regions today.
According to a map shared by the authority, the alert covers parts of Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah and other emirates. It is valid until 8:30 p.m. tonight.
Abu Dhabi Police turned to X to warn motorists to be careful when driving in the rain and to pay attention to changes in speed limits, which can be seen on electronic signs along the road.
Sharjah Police urged drivers to follow traffic rules and avoid speeding during inclement weather. Residents should avoid going outside during hazardous conditions and wait for the weather to improve. If leaving in unavoidable circumstances, drivers must maintain a safe distance between vehicles. While driving, make sure you have good visibility and turn carefully.

Community members should refrain from venturing into low-lying areas and valleys during rain and avoid heavy penalties.
The MNC also warned that the eastern regions of the country are prone to flash flooding and residents should stay away from these areas. Some neighbors reported hearing thunder this morning. The Storm Center social network has shared videos of rain in Sharjah and Ajman.
Temperatures are expected to drop to 26°C in Abu Dhabi and 27°C in Dubai. In mountainous regions the temperature could drop to 16°C today.
The sea will be moderate to rough at times off the Arabian Gulf coast and light to moderate in the Oman Sea.
