His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, has ordered the allocation of Dh4.5 million to supply Sharjah libraries with the latest publications from the 42nd session of the International Fair from the Book of Sharjah.

The measure aims to support the book industry at a regional and global level and facilitate the expansion of publishing businesses. 2,033 Arab and foreign publishers participate in the event.

Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Book Authority, said the grant from the Ruler of Sharjah constitutes a continuation of Sharjah’s efforts to strengthen the emirate’s publishing industry and libraries, both public and government.

The generous annual grant helps ensure that libraries are up-to-date offering the latest in science, literature and other areas of knowledge.

He added that the SIBF is not limited to promoting books and enhancing cultural activity as it has also become a medium that enables publishers to overcome challenges through various services and facilities that made Sharjah the preferred choice for those working in the book industry, regionally and globally.
