Dubai Municipality launches campaign to legalize unlicensed residential annexes for citizens

Dubai Municipality has launched an initiative to legalize unlicensed residential annexes in citizens’ homes within areas subject to the Municipality’s jurisdiction in the emirate.

The initiative, which will continue throughout the month of November 2023, aims to legalize unlicensed annexes that have been built without obtaining the necessary permits from the Municipality, as well as guarantee the structural safety of said annexes and their compliance with approved standards. for construction in Dubai.

The initiative is part of the Municipality’s efforts to ensure that there is no structural risk in the annexes that were executed without obtaining prior permission, in addition to applying the best standards to monitor construction activities and raise awareness in the community about the need to comply with current laws and regulations. The move is in line with government instructions in the Emirate of Dubai, which aim to improve the quality of life and ensure the highest levels of safety for all residents.

Application process

Dubai Municipality offers several advanced processes to facilitate the application process and take advantage of the initiative. The applicant must be a citizen of the United Arab Emirates and the owner of the residential villa or his authorized agent and can apply without submitting any documentation by calling 800900 and determining the plot number of his residential villa or its space number as well as his Contact information. All requests will be scheduled in the order they were received so that applicants can choose the most appropriate day for the visit.

A qualified engineer from the Municipality will carry out a visit in the second phase, during which the annex will be painted on the ground exactly as is and structurally assessed in accordance with the standards set in Dubai to determine its structural integrity and habitability.
