After being temporarily suspended during the epidemic, the RTA restored the shipping route connecting the emirates’ operations on August 4.

UAE residents traveling between Dubai and Sharjah have opted to use the Dubai ferry instead of the stressful road trip.

After being temporarily interrupted during the epidemic, the sea transport connection between Dubai and Sharjah was returned to operation on August 4 by Dubai. Highways and Transportation Authority (RTA).

Save time and money

Suleiman Ibrahim, a spice and dried fruit seller in Deira, is one of several passengers on board the ferry. He lives in the Sal Khan neighborhood and relies exclusively on the Dubai ferry to get to work every day.

“I used to travel by bus or car for more than three hours a day. I saved two hours more than Dh50 when I started using the ferry to work at the beginning of September this year.”

adds Ibrahim.

Stress-free alternative

“Not only have time and money been an issue, but traffic has also contributed to mental stress, which for the most part has decreased. Every day is a truly serene adventure.

Ibrahim continues:

“I think business has also increased because I can concentrate more on my work.

Engineer Arjun Jaykumar, who works at Al Jaddaf, agrees.

“My father drops me off at the office, but I usually take the ferry back.”

“My workplace is a few steps from the subway station. After getting off at Al Ghubaiba metro station, I walk to the nearby maritime station, which is just a 2-minute walk away. The ferry ride takes 35 minutes, so the total travel time to get home is about an hour.”

says Arjun.

“The ferry has made our lives much easier.”

he adds.

Meeting on the move

Ardashir, a businessman, prefers the ferry over any other means of transportation from Sharjah. He believes that the trip is very smooth and that he can make the most of the travel time.

“The trip is very quiet… I can talk to my clients and employees, hold meetings in the morning and at night while I’m on the road. This not only saves me time but also [the commute] more fruitful

says Ardashir.

Big savings during events

A major benefit that locals point out is the significant cost savings that occur during gitex and Gulf Food Events in Dubai. Travelers who choose the ferry save money on fuel and do not have to pay for expensive parking in Dubai, where fees can be as high as 250 dirhams in places like the World Trade Center.

Selecting Dubai ship for important occasions like Gulf Food and Gitex is revolutionary. “I save three hours a day and 350 dirhams a day on my trip,”

says Ahmed, a Sharjah-based businessman.

“It’s not just about money; it’s about enjoying a stress-free trip to these important events and saving valuable time.”

he continues.

Schedules

From Monday to Friday, two ferries leave Sharjah at 7:00 and 8:30, and one from Dubai at 7:45. In the evening, two trips from Sharjah at 4:45 p.m. and 6:15 p.m., and three trips from Dubai at 4:00 p.m., 5:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.

From Friday to Sunday there are six trips, three on each side starting at noon. Departure times from Sharjah are at 2pm, 4pm and 6pm, while trips from Dubai start at 3pm, 5pm and 8pm.
