Wasl unveils one of Dubai’s largest grid-connected solar projects

Wasl, one of Dubai’s largest real estate development and management companies, has announced the successful completion of one of the largest grid-connected solar projects in the emirate.

The project is another notable example of Dubai’s efforts to promote sustainability across sectors, a commitment highlighted by the hosting of the COP 28 global climate summit. The commemoration of 2023 as the Year of Sustainability by the The UAE also reflects the priority it places on sustainable solutions. while pursuing its development goals.

waslIn the new project, more than 22,000 photovoltaic (PV) panels were installed in 44 company buildings and facilities, improving network capacity by more than 11 million kWh per year. The solar energy thus produced will also offset 4,500 metric tons of carbon dioxide per year, thus consolidating Wasl’s commitment to sustainability. The carbon offsets thus achieved would have the same impact as taking 2,200 cars off the road, planting 180,000 trees or providing a year’s worth of energy to 900 homes in Dubai.

Aligned with the visionary UAE Net Zero by 2050 strategic initiative, the innovative project was carried out in collaboration with Etihad Energy Services Company (Etihad ESCO) to retrofit a wide range of Wasl properties with state-of-the-art solar panels. The results have been nothing short of remarkable, exceeding even the company’s highest expectations in terms of clean energy profits.

wasl will exhibit as sponsor of the Jubilee at the 25th Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX) and Dubai Solar Show (DSS) of November 15 to 17, showing innovative and sustainable solutions in their current and future projects. Wasl’s pavilion at the exhibition will focus on four pillars: sustainable real estate development, Food Tech Valley, solar photovoltaics and energy modernization. This is part of Wasl’s broader mission to reduce its carbon footprint and improve the quality of life in its communities.
