Dubai hosts historic COMET 2023 conference

Dubai Highways and Transportation Authority (RTA) opened today, the Community of Metros Conference (COMET) 2023 in Dubai, in collaboration with the Transport Strategy Center of Imperial College London under the theme: Financial, operational and environmental sustainability. Around 100 experts and specialists representing 25 countries will meet to discuss various topics related to metro operating systems.

COMET 2023Held for the first time in the Middle East, over four days it examines several critical issues related to metro systems, including technology adoption and innovation, reliability of metro performance, employment in metro systems and related issues. with financial, operational and environmental sustainability aspects. The conference addresses operational challenges, including project financing and advancing environmental, social and corporate governance across the industry.

“COMET 2023 aims to foster international collaboration between government entities and private companies involved in the operation of metro networks around the world by sharing their best practices and systems. Numerous sessions and workshops will be held focused on topics related to the metro such as measuring the quality of the operational process, periodic technical visits and maintenance, among others.

“The conference will host a host of international public transport performance experts and analysts, including representatives from the Center for Transport Strategy at Imperial College London, who will discuss and share global experiences. “Many industry leaders from renowned organizations such as MTR (Hong Kong), TMB (Barcelona) and BVG (Berlin) will make important presentations on vital subway-related topics.”

“Key themes of COMET include the core objectives of metro projects and the evaluation of performance and factors contributing to service quality. Discussions will also cover ridership analysis, increasing reliance on the metro as the preferred mode of transportation, comparative statistics of metro usage at different times of the year, future projections and emerging challenges to be faced.

“Participants will discuss key practices and innovations in metro, public transportation and mass transit systems, service improvement, sustainability and long-term strategic planning.
