The Ministry of the Interior highlights energy transition and climate action efforts at WETEX 2023

He Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MoEI) participates in the 25th Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Hall (WETEX) and dubai solar show, which started today at the Dubai World Trade Center and continues until November 17.
Under the motto ‘At the forefront of sustainability’, the event showcases a wide range of innovative and pioneering initiatives and ambitious projects that help accelerate the energy transition and achieve climate neutrality.
As part of your participation, Ministry of Interior seeks to highlight the UAE Energy Strategy 2050 which was recently updated to reflect greater ambitions and commitment to climate action and the energy transition. The strategy has set clear targets for 2030, including: tripling the share of renewable energy, increasing installed clean energy capacity from 14.2 GW to 19.8 GW and increasing the share of installed clean energy in the total energy mix by 30 percent to ensure the country is on track to achieve its climate change mitigation goals. Additionally, the strategy aims to increase the efficiency of individual and institutional energy consumption by 42 to 45 percent.
At their booth in WETEX, The Ministry team also showcases the National Hydrogen Strategy 2050, which aims to strengthen the UAE’s position as a leading producer and supplier of low-emission hydrogen by 2031 by developing supply chains and establishing hydrogen oases and a dedicated national research and development center. for hydrogen technologies.
Additionally, the team provides an overview of the National Demand Management Program that targets a 40 percent reduction in energy use and a 50 percent reduction in water consumption from business as usual by 2050 by improving of energy and water efficiency in four highly intensive sectors: built environment, industry, agriculture and transportation.
Besides, Ministry of Interior aims to explore and learn from best practices and experiences that can support its commitment to integrating sustainability into all its mandates.
Ahmed Al Kaabi, Deputy Undersecretary for Electricity, Water and Future Energy at the Ministry of the Interior, saying,
“The 25th WETEX and Dubai Solar Show takes on paramount importance as it paves the way for the 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP28) which will place the energy transition at the center of its processes.”
He added,
“As part of our participation in this event, we will present to our stakeholders and the public the leading projects and policies we develop as part of our efforts to support environmental sustainability and address climate change. “We have set out a clear plan to reduce emissions and achieve net zero emissions by 2050. Our plan is underway and we are already seeing tangible results in our energy and environmental sustainability.”
