e& introduces green SIM card initiative for UAE customers


e& has introduced an eco-friendly Green SIM Card initiative for its UAE customers at the upcoming 28th UNFCCC Conference of the Parties (COP28) in Dubai.

As the main technological partner of the event, sustainability remains a key factor in my&The overall mission to meet its net zero emissions target by 2030 as it accelerates the implementation of climate action projects across its UAE operations.

With the host country COP28 and declare 2023 as the ‘Year of Sustainability’, my& is accelerating the pace of its green initiatives to enable a low-carbon society, reduce environmental impact and promote sustainability.

Made from recycled consumer electronics, the new cards are more environmentally sustainable than traditional cards and have a lower carbon footprint. More than half a million Green SIM cards They have been purchased to broadly cater to visitors and attendees arriving in the United Arab Emirates for the COP28 event.

my& has taken substantial steps to reduce its carbon footprint and is working to achieve net zero emissions in Scopes 1 and 2 within the group’s operations in the United Arab Emirates by 2030. The group has implemented energy-efficient wireless equipment at its mobile networks.

This transformation has led to a notable 52 percent reduction in energy consumption compared to conventional equipment, translating into an annual decrease of 7.6 tons of carbon emissions per site.

my& has also joined the World Economic Forumof the EDISON Alliance, committing to significantly contribute to the mission by striving to improve the lives of 30 million people through improved network access, financial services and technology education by 2025.
