MoHRE announces ‘an update’ on National Day holiday for private sector

[ad_1]

Private sector workers in the UAE were given an extra day off for UAE National Day, making it a three-day weekend for them.

Originally, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization declared December 2 and 3 as paid holidays. But then they updated it and included December 4 (Saturday, Sunday and Monday) as a day off for private sector employees.

This change also applies to government workers, who will have the same vacation break. They will be free from December 2 to 4 and the day before the break (Friday, December 1) they will work from home. Normally, Fridays are a half day for government workers.

Everyone returns to work on Tuesday, December 5.

This system guarantees that both public and private sector employees have the same number of breaks throughout the year. UAE National Day, also known as UAE Union Day, is celebrated on December 2 every year and marks the unity of the Emirates in 1971. This year, the country turns 52 years old.
