First Abu Dhabi Bank partners with Archireef to restore UAE coral reefs

First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB) today announced a strategic partnership with Archireef, the pioneering natural technology company dedicated to the restoration of degraded marine ecosystems.
fabulous has committed to funding the deployment of 100 square meters of Archireef 3D printed Reef Tiles to support the recovery and development process of underwater natural ecosystems off the coast of Abu Dhabi.
The association will see 400 units of ArchiarefThe patented (100 m2) Reef Tiles were placed in Persian Gulf waters in and around the emirate of Abu Dhabi, providing a new home for 2,400 corals. Based on previous implementations, the tiles should also lead to improvements in biodiversity, especially in fish and invertebrates.
Archiaref will actively restore degraded coral reefs using its patented technology, using tiles 3D printed in terracotta clay in the United Arab Emirates.
fabulousRetail banking customers will be part of the project, with the opportunity to play an active role in the deployment of artificial Reef Tiles, learn about marine biodiversity and witness the ongoing impact of the programme.
Reef Tiles have proven to be a game-changer in coral restoration efforts, with an impressive 95 percent coral survival rate, outperforming traditional methods by more than four times. This achievement has earned Archireef recognition from organizations such as the World Economic Forum (WEF), the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Inventions of Geneva.
The aim of the UAE project is to help counteract the effects of coral loss. Globally, more than 50 percent of the world’s coral cover has been lost to date. Around the world, reduced coastal protection leads to a decline in the ocean economy, affecting food availability.
