The NCRs are presented every four years by the member countries to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

Al Mazrouei saying,

“The UAE is the first country in the MENA region to develop its fifth NCR using the updated 2006 IPCC Guidelines for 2021 data. This is a testament to the country’s commitment to leading climate action in an equitable and transparent manner, contributing to climate neutrality by the 2050 goal.”

He added,

“The report is of utmost importance as it supports our future environmental and climate goals and sheds light on the country’s innovative measures to combat climate change and safeguard ecosystems. It also explores the UAE’s economic achievements and investments in hydrogen technology , nuclear energy and solar energy. “The United Arab Emirates has an impressive track record in the clean energy transition, due to its pioneering vision, innovative policies and substantial investments. “It is home to some of the largest solar and nuclear projects in the world.”

The UAE’s fifth NCR highlights the adoption of various advanced technologies to ensure security of energy supply, price affordability and a diversified energy mix, including hydrogen, low-speed wind energy and hydropower.

It also provides a sectoral GHG inventory in the UAE and outlines initiatives that improve healthcare, education and general well-being, as well as the UAE’s efforts to promote international collaboration and partnerships that serve its vision of a sustainable future. .
