Dubai approves the 2024-2033 strategic plan for the sports sector

His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council (DSC), today chaired the Council’s Board of Directors meeting, during which he approved the 2024-2033 strategic plan for Dubai’s sports sector .
The meeting, held at the DSC headquarters, was attended by Mattar Al Tayer, vice-president of the Dubai Sports Council; Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police; Maryam Al Hammadi and other members of the Board.
Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed saying,
“In line with management’s vision, we have approved the latest strategic plan for Dubai’s sports sector for the period 2024-2033. The plan is designed to contribute to Dubai’s ambitious sustainability goals, including a 50 per cent reduction in carbon emissions by 2030. It also seeks to align with the goals outlined in the Dubai Urban Master Plan 2040 and Government directives. from Dubai. “Our strategic goals prioritize sustainability in all facets of our work, emphasizing the role of sports in promoting the health and happiness of our community members.”
“Our goal is to improve the overall quality of life and at the same time improve the contribution of the sports sector to the emirate’s annual GDP. “We have led efforts to increase private sector participation in organizing sporting events, aiming to achieve 90 per cent participation in 450 events held annually in Dubai.”

The meeting reviewed the approved budget for Dubai’s sports sector for the year 2024. The Council Board also reviewed preparations to host upcoming international sporting events, including the region’s first. Dubai Cup for electric scooterswhich will be held in the Dubai Design District on December 16 and will feature 16 of the world’s elite runners.
Additionally, the Board reviewed preparations for upcoming events, including the Dubai Marathon scheduled to be held in Umm Suqeim on January 7, 2024; the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Creative Sports Award, on January 10, 2024; the Dubai International Sports Conference; the Globe Soccer Awards on January 19, 2024; and the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Dubai Design District from February 15 to 25, 2024.
