IIT-Delhi Abu Dhabi: 25 seats in the inaugural course; Admission process, job prospects explained – News

The inaugural batch of the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi Abu Dhabi (IIT-Delhi Abu Dhabi) will offer 25 seats, a senior official said. The program at IIT-Delhi’s first international campus will enroll both Emirati and international students, he told Khaleej Times in an exclusive interview.

“We will potentially explore the possibility of increasing the number of places in response to a sustained increase in demand,” said Dr Ahmed Sultan Al Shoaibi, acting executive director of the Higher Education Sector at the Department of Education and Knowledge in Abu Dhabi. (Adek).

Scheduled to start in January 2024, IIT-Delhi Abu Dhabi will offer a master’s program in Energy Transition and Sustainability (ETS).

Admission and selection process

The authorities have implemented a “thorough” admissions procedure to ensure a “comprehensive and fair student selection process.”

Candidates will be evaluated based on their grades, language proficiency and academic performance. A prerequisite is a four-year bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field, such as physical sciences, chemistry, environmental sciences, or earth sciences. “Students who have a three-year bachelor’s degree must complete a two-year master’s program in the specific scientific field. The admission limit is a CGPA of 7.5/10, a 3.0/4.0, or graduating with a percentage of 75 and above,” the official explained.

Candidates with less than one year of work experience must obtain a score of at least 350 on the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) or a minimum quantitative score of 150 on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE). They must also take an entrance test to demonstrate knowledge of engineering concepts linked to energy and sustainability.

“English proficiency must be completed through EmSAT, TOEFL or IELTS. Exemptions apply for those who have completed their education at an English-medium institution in English-speaking countries.
