The Indonesian Embassy in Abu Dhabi has facilitated the repatriation of seven Indonesian expatriates, including four undocumented children.
Three families consisting of a father and his two children and two mothers with one child each were flown to Jakarta. The embassy’s information, social and cultural section noted that the children, all under seven years old, were declared undocumented.
Husin Bagis, Indonesian ambassador to the UAE, said this was the third repatriation carried out in collaboration with the UAE immigration authorities.

“This third repatriation, consisting of seven Indonesian citizens and their children, could not have been carried out well without the support and facilitation of the UAE Government, especially the immigration authorities.”
The repatriation is part of the embassy’s mother and child repatriation program, which includes a DNA testing program conducted in June. This has been done in collaboration with the international relations division of the Indonesian National Police, which is one of the requirements for repatriation.
Once in Indonesia, expatriates will be looked after by the Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Agency, which will then facilitate their return to their respective regions. The expatriates come from Cirebon, Cianjur and Indramayu in Indonesia.
Bagis stressed that the repatriation, which included not only the mothers but also a father, demonstrates that the embassy prioritizes gender equality.
“This time the returnees were not only mothers but also fathers. This is part of the efforts of the Indonesian Embassy in Abu Dhabi to protect all Indonesian citizens and children in an accredited country, without exception,” Bagis stressed.
To date, up to 164 Indonesian mothers, fathers and children have been repatriated, the embassy added.
