United Arab Emirates issues federal decree establishing International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council

The President, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has issued a Federal Decree establishing the International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council.
Chaired by His Highness Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Martyrs’ Family Affairs and Development Office of the Presidential Court, The council is responsible for overseeing international humanitarian and philanthropic affairs.
The council also includes Her Excellency Reem Ibrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation; His Excellency Maryam bint Mohammed Saeed Hareb Al Mheiri, Minister of Climate Change and Environment; His Excellency Shamma bint Suhail Al Mazrouei, Minister of Community Development; His Excellency Faris Mohammed Ahmed Al Mazrouei, Advisor to the Presidential Court; His Excellency Dr. Hamdan Musallam Al Mazrouei, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Red Crescent; His Excellency Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development; and His Excellency Sultan Mohammed Al Shamsi, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for International Development Affairs.
The roles of International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council include oversight of the international humanitarian and philanthropic sector, review and approval of the political agenda for international humanitarian affairs, oversight of the preparation and implementation of relevant initiatives and projects, development of the future vision for international humanitarian affairs and general frameworks for implementation , and formation of any subcommittees necessary to support operations.
The council will comprise the Joint Strategic Committee for African Cooperation, the UAE Humanitarian Committee, the Higher Committee on Foreign Aid and the International Health Advisory Committee.
