Maktoum bin Mohammed appointed Deputy Prime Minister of Financial and Economic Affairs of the United Arab Emirates

Dubai: The United Arab Emirates on Saturday announced a cabinet reshuffle, marking a new phase in the country’s leadership and administration.

The reshuffle was announced by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, on his official X account.

“With the approval of my brother, President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and after consultations with him, we are pleased to announce a series of ministerial reshuffles in the UAE government,” Sheikh Mohammed tweeted.

Leading the reorganization, Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum was appointed Deputy Prime Minister of Financial and Economic Affairs, overseeing this critical sector in the Federal Government.

“Sheikh Maktoum’s demonstrated leadership at the Ministry of Finance and his effective handling of various economic and commercial files have been instrumental in balancing our financial policies at both the local and federal levels,” Sheikh Mohammed said.

“We have full confidence in his ability to lead our federal economic, trade and financial team to new achievements, nurture young economic leaders and continue our commitment to sound fiscal policies that drive the nation’s economic growth,” Sheikh Mohammed tweeted.

Another notable appointment is that of Sultan Al Neyadi as Minister of State for Youth in the United Arab Emirates. “Some time ago, we invited nominations for the position of Minister of Youth in the United Arab Emirates. Sultan Saif AlNeyadi is one of the first two astronauts, along with Hazza Al Mansouri, within the UAE Astronaut Programme, which was launched in 2017 with the aim of developing a national scientific corps and preparing a national team of astronauts who would be sent to space for various scientific missions. .

It has carried out the longest Arab space mission in history, launched on March 2 aboard SpaceX’s Dragon Endeavor spacecraft. On April 28, 2023 he achieved an important milestone by becoming the first Arab to complete a spacewalk.

On September 4, 2023, he returned to Earth after completing a six-month mission to the International Space Station, during which he participated in around 200 scientific experiments aboard the station.

Al Neyadi holds a BSc in Electronics and Communications Engineering from the University of Brighton, UK, an MSc in IT and a Ph.D. in Information Technology from Griffith University, Australia.

Al Neyadi received the Best Student Award at Zayed Military College and an Excellence Award for his performance from Griffith University, Australia. He also won the Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Al Maktoum Award for scientific achievements. Additionally, Al Neyadi is a member of the UAE Volunteer Platform.

Environment Minister

Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak Al Shamsi

Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak Al Shamsi has been appointed Minister of Environment and member of the Council of Ministers. “A prominent member of the federal workforce, Amna has been under our observation for several years, during which she has successfully led a number of strategic projects for the federal government. She is entrusted with important responsibilities in environmental management and the advancement of the agricultural sector, as well as in establishing domestic food security. Her role is fundamental in supporting and encouraging the growth of our citizens working in the agriculture, fishing and food sectors,” said Sheikh Mohammed.

Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak Al Shamsi served as Deputy Undersecretary for Care and Skills Development Sector at the Ministry of Education of the United Arab Emirates since July 2016. Prior to that, she held the position of Director of the Department of Innovation and Entrepreneurship in the Ministry of Education. She was also appointed spokesperson for the UAE government during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Additionally, he is a member of the Digital Transformation Committee, the National Committee for Family Protection and the Gulf Council for Giftedness.

Dr. Amna heads several national committees, including the Council for Safeguarding Children in Education, the National Committee for Green Education and the National Committee for Creative Arts in Education.

He has a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from Khalifa University and a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Sharjah. She also holds the UAE Government Innovation Diploma from the Mohamed Bin Rashid Government Innovation Center and the Diplomatic Leadership Program from the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy (AGDA).

Mariam Harib Al Muhairi has also been appointed head of the International Affairs Office of the Presidential Court, following her impactful tenure at the Ministry of Environment.
