Michael Mohammad and Ekaterina, a couple living in Russia, were in Dubai to attend the concert when Ekaterina, or Kati, a pet name used by her partner, got the surprise of her life.

The first time Michael heard Ed Sheeran’s hit song. Perfect, she knew she wanted to marry him one day. And that’s how the couple landed in Dubai.
Knowing that the concert was going to be loud, Michael decided to change things up and proposed to her with a series of articles that revealed a touching message, one by one. “I have good news and bad news. I can’t be your boyfriend anymore. Because I want to be your husband. Will you marry me?”

Find the perfect place
It was after celebrating their first anniversary last year that Michael knew he wanted to pop the special question. And so he set out on his quest to find the perfect destination to begin his forever journey.
“I really wanted to go somewhere warm, but as someone who has high standards, there weren’t many options,” said Michael, a 39-year-old journalist originally from Los Angeles. As a native of Los Angeles, Russian winters are not so easy for him.
He considered three things before deciding on Dubai. “The first thing was that I could communicate freely, since English is my main language. “Once I considered all that, Dubai was the only logical choice. Mind you, I had never been and Kati had never been, but everything I found in my research showed that it was the kind of place where we could really rest, relax and make special memories . but without the sin of ‘Sin City,’ also known as Las Vegas,” said Mohammad, who comes from a Middle Eastern background but moved to Los Angeles when he was a baby.
“Values are really important to us and I don’t want to spoil this special moment. So I chose Dubai and I’m really glad I did.”
As a huge Ed Sheeran fan, it felt like fate when Michael found out about the singer’s concert date online. He immediately booked the tickets and surprised his now-fiancé on New Year’s Eve. “In Russia it’s customary to exchange gifts, so on New Year’s I had the tickets ready and the concert tickets reserved and I gave them to her. She was very excited.”
Speaking about his 35-year-old fiancée, who works at an international women’s fashion company, Michael gushed about his future wife.
“We are complete opposites. I take risks; she is a wise soul. I love to sing and dance, and she loves to read and meditate. But from the day I met her, I finally found someone who made me feel grounded.” , and she found a dreamer to brighten her day.”
Saying “yes” in Dubai
At the concert, Michael held the ring tightly as he anxiously waited for Ed Sheeran to play. Perfect – the final step of his plan.
“One by one, they played songs and I became more and more nervous. It got to the point where I couldn’t even enjoy the music because I was waiting apprehensively for the song to come on.”
