Sunjay Sudhir delivered his Republic Day speech at the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi on Friday.
The establishment of a stone Hindu temple and the Delhi campus of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Abu Dhabi are important achievements in the growing relations between India and the UAE, the Indian envoy said.
In his speech at India’s 75th Republic Day celebrations, Sunjay Sudhir, Indian ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, underlined that ties are undergoing a “rapid and positive transformation”, guided by the vision of leaders from both sides.
“Mutual trust and respect have encouraged the broadening and deepening of our ties and the exploration of new areas of cooperation. While India has been engaged with all its partners across the world, the relationship between India and the UAE stands out,” Sudhir said at the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi after hoisting the tricolor national flag of the India.

He noted frequent visits between leaders, including President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who attended the Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2024 as this month’s chief guest.
“The tour of around 50,000 people who welcomed their arrival caravan in Ahmedabad showed immense affection and support from the people, highlighting the strong bond between our nations.”
Sudhir said IIT-Delhi’s first international campus in Abu Dhabi has been a “remarkable achievement”.
“The first master’s program on sustainability and energy transition will begin at the end of this month. Subsequently, bachelor’s programs will be introduced in September 2024.”

He acknowledged the establishment of the BAPS Hindu Mandir as “one of the most notable embodiments” of the bilateral relationship.
“The temple, which will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi on February 14, will serve as a spiritual sanctuary that will promote global harmony.”
