Federal Tax Authority launches three initiatives for the UAE to innovate in 2024

The Federal Tax Authority (FTA) will launch three initiatives and host events this February as part of UAE Innovates 2024.

This month-long program aims to boost the UAE’s innovation position, foster ideas and skills, celebrate innovators and promote the National Strategy for Advanced Innovation.

Initiatives include the Innovation Challenge award for the FTA team; the Hackathon program, which aims to strengthen the Authority’s partnership with the community; and the initiative to expand participation in the ‘TAX 10’ digital innovation platform for FTA employees by making it available to various categories in the UAE and abroad.

“The Federal Tax Authority is interested in participating in the annual month-long UAE Innovates initiative as part of its innovation strategy, which aims to achieve global leadership in tax procedures, while continuously improving the services it provides. “The Authority provides taxpayers and creates an institutional environment that encourages innovative ideas.”

FTA highlighted the initiatives that will be launched to UAE innovates this February, stating that the Innovation Challenge award aims to develop practical, future-focused solutions by offering employees the opportunity to showcase their innovative skills and ideas. This, in turn, facilitates tangible improvements in the Authority’s operational and strategic processes by regularly evaluating employee proposals and honoring the winners.

Meanwhile, the Hackathon The program aims to develop innovative technological solutions to current challenges in collaboration with the government and educational sectors, bringing together talented developers, programmers and designers in cohesive teams to generate innovative solutions that streamline and improve tax procedures. The challenges included in the program will be announced through the TLC’s official platforms, where all parties involved will be invited to dedicated sessions where they can present their ideas for evaluation, after which the best innovative technological solutions will be announced as winners.

The third major initiative involves expanding participation in the ‘TAX 10‘digital innovation platform for FTA employees, allowing 100 members of the UAE community to apply for permissions to use the platform. Permits will also be offered to representatives of universities, government entities and representatives of tax authorities of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
